In Monday’s snowstorm, media was out at the Supreme Court two days after Justice Scalia’s death. Flags were at half-mast throughout the city. The statues at Union Station were dusted with snow.
The Chinese New Year parade in D.C. celebrates the Year of the Monkey, including a smoke-filled Firecracker Dance with the lions.
Cupid’s Undie Run is a annual event benefiting the Children’s Tumor Foundation. The local D.C. run took place with temperatures around 19 degrees but that did not stop any of the enthusiasm.
The peace vigil in Lafayette Square was started in 1981 by William Thomas, and shortly after that, Concepcion Picciotto maintained the vigil daily until her death last week. Philipos, another long-time volunteer, is keeping the vigil going on after Connie’s death. RIP Connie
Once a year, the National Cathedral moves its chairs to the side, and invites photographers in to see the open space. When the strong morning sun shines through the stained glass, it creates reflections in unreally-bright neon colors.
