Last summer, I’d seen photos of a massive geometric installation of colored string in an abandoned building, but I got there hours after the police had dismantled it and blocked access to the building. So I was excited to see that another version of it had been created, this time much smaller and in a legal structure, but still compelling. Synth 004:Loop is part of the Synth series, by Toki (architects Toluwalase Rufai and Khai Grubbs).
The installation is at Epic Yoga, in a brick-walled room in an old building near Dupont Circle. I went by myself, although it would have been great to be with other people who could have created specific poses and interaction. The people in these photos are other visitors, shot in silhouettes or as reflections in the mirrors.
